Research on the Seismic Performance of Prefabricated Bridge Piers Using UHPC Grout under an Eccentric Load

چکیده

At present, research on prefabricated piers is limited to the axial compression state. However, many are under small eccentric in practical engineering. In this article, seismic performance of ultrahigh concrete (UHPC)-grouted corrugated pipe-connected was studied. A pseudostatic test carried out by using a pier column model connected with UHPC-grouted pipes. The failure mechanism plastic hinge area base studied, and mode, energy dissipation capacity, displacement ductility, ultimate bearing capacity were compared those an ordinary axially compressed structure. result shows that conventional cast-in-place(CIP) pier, overall ductility factor assembled pipe-connection decreased approximately 5.0% 10%, respectively. pinching phenomenon hysteresis curve precast more obvious. When compression, close CIP improved 20%. Comparison two same UHPC grout connections stiffness degradation process similar compression. But coefficient increased about caused different damage degrees zone at bottom column. load direction as additional bending moment 55% lower than opposite direction.

Seismic Design of Concrete-Filled Circular Steel Bridge Piers

The adequacy of the existing design provisions for concrete-filled steel pipes subjected to axial forces and flexure is reviewed by comparing the strengths predicted by the CAN/CSA-S16.1-M94, AISC LRFD 1994, and the Eurocode 4 1994 codes and standards against experimental data from a number of investigators. New proposed design equations are then developed, in a format compatible with North Ame...

Multi-hazard (blast, Seismic, Tsunamis, Collision) Resistant Bridge Piers

Bridges are often built in locations susceptible to multiple extreme hazards. Meeting some or all of these constraints drives the development of innovative multi-hazard design concepts. This paper presents the results of research conducted to develop and experimentally validate such multi-hazard bridge pier concepts. The first concept is a pier-bent made of concrete filled steel tube columns. F...

PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION FOR MULI-COLUMN RC BRIDGE PIERS, CONSIDERING QUASI-ISOLATION

In this paper an optimization framework is presented for automated performance-based seismic design of bridges consisting of multi-column RC pier substructures. The beneficial effects of fusing components on seismic performance of the quasi-isolated system is duly addressed in analysis and design. The proposed method is based on a two-step structural analysis consisting of a linear modal dynami...

Seismic Retrofit of Bridge Steel Truss Piers Using a Controlled Rocking Approach

This paper investigates a seismic retrofit technique that allows bridge steel truss piers to uplift and rock on their foundation. Displacement-based passive energy dissipation devices buckling-restrained braces, or BRBs are implemented at the uplifting location to control the rocking response while providing additional energy dissipation. The hysteretic behavior of the controlled rocking system...
